Caudalie was born in 1993 when the founders, Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas, met Dr Vercauteren, a professor at the University of Pharmacy of Bordeaux. As the grapes were being harvested on their family’s property, Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte, the professor noticed the leftover skins and seeds of the grapes in their wine press and exclaimed ‘ Do you know that you are throwing away treasures’ He explained to them that the polyphenols in the vines and grapes had extraordinary anti-oxidant power and it was then that Caudalie was created. For over ten years, they have worked together to research and discover the most effective skin treatments. They have patented their ingredients and their products continue to provide great satisfaction to millions of women in their fight against the visible signs of ageing. Mathilde and Bertrand continuously work to improve the performance and quality of their beauty products.

Caudalie products are ethical. They are are free of parabens, phenoxyethanol, mineral oils and artificial colourings. Where possible their products come in tubes instead of jars as creams may be altered when exposed to fingers or air. All product testing is done on volunteers, under dermatological monitoring, to support their product claims. All the active ingredients come from the heart of the grapevine.
